Our Mission: To provide emergency fire, rescue and hazard mitigation services at the highest level possible with the resources provided by our community.
Our Vision: To serve the community of Archuleta County and the portions of Hinsdale and Mineral Counties which are located on the western slope of the Continental Divide within the scope or our Mission.
Welcome to the Pagosa Fire Protection District Web Site. We hope you gain a better understanding of who we are and the services we provide to our community by scrolling through our Web Page.
Our Department serves the Town of Pagosa Springs and the majority of Archuleta County, Colorado. We are located about 25 miles west of Wolf Creek Pass on the Continental Divide and 58 miles east of Durango, CO. We provide fire and rescue response to a population of approximately 12,000 throughout the County. Our emergency responsibilities include fighting both structure and wildland fires, conducting rescues involving vehicles, swift water and ice situations. We provide Fire Prevention activities including Fire Code/Building Plans Reviews, Business Inspections/Pre-Fire Planning, Public Education, School Programs and public speaking engagements. Our Public Education in the Schools includes presentations by our Fire Clown Group.
As you will see on our site, we have a very capable staff and a great volunteer membership who provide critical services to our community.
